Welcome to the Frome Book Fair Website
While for the moment THE FROME BOOK FAIR has been put on hold we are happy to announce our...
Second-Hand Book Sale @ The Silk Mill
Saturday, 19th September, 10.00 am - 3.00 pm
Calling all book lovers to our Second-Hand Book Sale!
Peter Foster, from The Frome Book Shop, is having a sale with hundreds of heavily discounted items of excess stock so don’t miss the opportunity to grab yourself a bargain. With prices starting at only £1.00 there will be something for everyone. Natural History, Science Fiction, Children’s Books, Art, Gardening are just a few of the subjects available. Pictures and book related nick-nacks will also be for sale. |
“With the reopening of the shop we have had a huge influx of books as a lot of people had time to get organised and have a clear out. However, with our reduced opening hours it seems that we have more books coming in than going out. This sale is a great opportunity for us to have our own clear out”.
A one-way system will be in place, with books laid out on the tables for a quick browsing experience so hopefully, lots of people can get through. Face masks and hand sanitising are mandatory. Please bring your own bag if possible.
Frome Book Fair 2020 Cancelled!
It is with great sadness that, after considering all the uncertainties around organising a large event in the current ongoing COVID-19 situation, we have decided to cancel the September Fair.
We'll set a new date for 2021 as soon as it is possible and safe to do so.
In the meantime, you can visit The Frome Bookshop and support our small business!

The FROME BOOK FAIR is now organised by Peter and Thais, from The Frome Bookshop, and has been running since 2016, with two events happening in 2018 and 2019.
"We were a little cautious and unsure about running the fair on our own as we have a lovely toddler that takes up most of our time, but we also thought it would be a good challenge for us.
The last fair was held at the Silk Mill, a small venue that we already knew, with a small group of booksellers that have been with us since the beginning so in the end everything went smoothly and the fair was another success."
This time the fair returns to the Cheese & Grain, a bigger venue that can accommodate up to 40 dealers.
"This will be our second time in the Cheese & Grain and we are really excited about it. The location of the venue attracts a lot of visitors that wouldn't normally visit a book fair and we really welcome that. The second hand book trade is sometimes associated with dusty old books and we want to change this perception. We want to introduce the wonderful world of old books to as many people as possible as our view from the fairs and from being in the shop is that, if we are to survive as a trade, we need both the experienced collector, looking for the Holy Grail of their collection, and the younger generations looking to start their own collection".
"We see, specially in the shop, that it takes time for someone to become a customer. People usually come, have a look, have a chat and leave. They will come again, and again until they start to trust you and from then on they might come regularly and support you for years to come".
The Frome Book Fair attracts a varied selection of booksellers from the West Country & around the UK. We make sure we invite dealers that will bring an array of different subjects and books for every pocket. Browse the website for previous fair highlights and exhibitors.
